Why are we having Kiss Cancer Good-Bye in Heckscher Park in Huntington? Because we think it’s perfect.
Situated around the corner from our office, and home to The Heckscher Museum of Art, where Dr. Gellerman is a member of the Board of Trustees, Heckscher Park has been a part of the history of Huntington since it was dedicated by August Heckscher in 1920.
The pond that we’ll be walking around, known as Heckscher Pond, was once the source of power for a nearby thimble factory. Heckscher Park is one of the town’s most frequently used parks in the entire town of Huntington. It features many large outdoor sculptures.
And we bet you didn’t know this: Heckscher Park is on the National Register of Historic Places!
